JOB SUMMARY
Cleans and services District vehicles and related service areas.

  
Essential Functions

Depending on assignment: Sweeps, mops, steams, scrapes and washes the interior and exterior of buses or Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs); sweeps and mops garage floors, pits, District parking lots, and service areas; lifts, moves and dumps trash containers; cleans maintenance office and storage room; performs daily visual vehicle inspection, reporting defects; makes non-mechanical road calls, checks and replaces consumables and equipment as necessary; checks engine fluids, refilling as needed; replaces accessories such as light bulbs, mirrors, wiper blades and seat cushions; drives LRVs within yard and on main line to move from one Light Rail facility to another, or buses between District locations; operates CNG fueling equipment; operates revenue collection equipment; safely operates a variety of equipment, including forklift, ground scrubber/sweeper, and upholstery cleaning equipment; installs and replaces vandal guards; places and replaces fliers and advertisements in buses or LRVs; work will not encroach upon the work of higher classified positions; performs other related duties as assigned.

  
Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:

Bus: Six (6) months of work related experience in a position performing janitorial and/or industrial cleaning duties or a position responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and/or servicing of a variety of vehicles.

Light Rail: One (1) year of work related experience in a position performing janitorial and/or industrial cleaning duties or a position responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and/or servicing of a variety of vehicles.

Special Requirements, Licenses and/or Certifications: Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license at time of application and have a satisfactory driving record. Must have ability to obtain a Class B California Driver’s Permit with endorsement(s) prior to the start of employment. Must have ability to possess a Forklift Operator Certification within 90 days of start of employment. Must comply with drug and alcohol testing provisions for safety-sensitive employees as required by the FTA, Department of Transportation (49 CFR, Parts 40 and 655). For Light Rail assignments: Must pass the Ishihara Eye Test (color acuity). Must pass RT’s LRV Operator’s License exam within 90 days of start of employment. Candidates must submit a current and official DMV printout, dated February 11, 2016, or thereafter, at time of application in order to be considered. Only official DMV printouts issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles are acceptable. Online DMV printout will not be accepted.
