Antelope, CA:
Hello Henry li. My name is Stephen Welton and I’m a frequent user of the buses and SacRT flex. Anyways, when are you going to make the station announcements on both the light rail trains and at the stations in Spanish?
Reply: Thank you for your question. At the current moment we don’t have the technology to provide this in an auto format yet, but we hope to be able to do this in the near future as we upgrade our announcement system.

Will there ever be a real-time light rail tracker like the buses have?
Reply: Thank you for your question! Real-time light rail tracking is in the works. SacRT has secured grant funding to implement this feature, and we’re excited to move forward. In the coming months, we’ll be bringing an item to our Board for approval of a contract to begin the work. Once complete, riders will be able to see accurate, real-time train locations and arrival times, making trip planning even easier.

Will Alert SacRT have Bus Trip Cancelations notifications in the future?
Reply: In the future the Transit Connect app will be our all in one alert and fare payment for both light rail and bus. For now, we use the Alert SacRT app for light rail service updates or major service disruptions and use the SacRT BusTracker app for bus service alerts.

Is there a way to submit ideas for potential bus routes and/or light rail extensions?
Reply: Absolutely. SacRT is launching SacRT 2050, a bold initiative to reimagine transit for the next 25 years. Formerly known as the Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA), this effort will take a fresh look at our service offerings and create a roadmap for a safe, efficient, and sustainable transit system that meets the evolving needs of the Sacramento region. Please provide your feedback via the survey that is open through March 15th at sacrt.com/sacrt2050.

Why does SacRT run the electric buses intended for the airport route on non-airport routes like the 38?
Reply: As SacRT continues to grow its electric bus fleet, we are operating these buses on different routes to better understand how they perform in real-world conditions. This allows us to learn more about battery range, charging needs, and day-to-day operations across different types of service, including local routes like the 38.
This hands-on experience helps us make informed decisions as we plan future electric bus purchases and determine how best to assign them across the system. Our goal is to ensure we are using the vehicles in ways that support reliable service while preparing for a broader transition to electric buses.

What service changes is SacRT looking to do in 2026? Will it be through a combination of route eliminations, route realignments and other strategies to make bus service and bus routes more efficient and less redundant, while staying within budget limitations? My hope is that this year will be the year in which there will be somethings happening to make some of the existing “status quo” a bit different, especially from a service efficiency perspective. Thank you.
Reply: We are continuing to progress our Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA), so please provide your feedback at sacrt.com/sacrt2050.
Among several other things, with the opening of the Dos Rios light rail station, we are planning to eliminate bus route 33 and reallocate the savings, e.g., to improve headways on bus route 30 to 15 minute service all day on weekdays, and improve the Sunday headways from 60 to 30 minutes. We’re also looking at trying to improve headways on bus route 11 to 30 minutes all day on weekdays. We have a number of other minor changes and concepts that we will showcase in our forthcoming Short-Range Transit Plan.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that SacRT receives 1/5 of a penny in local sales tax support. This is significantly less than our west coast peers and hinders the amount of service we can provide.

I have often noticed single car operations on the Gold Line whenever it is a Sunday/Holiday schedule. Are there not enough rail cars in the fleet to always operate 2-car consists on all days at all operating hours? Seems like the single car operations get crowded with cyclists and then they are the ones that become very aggressive and annoying towards other passengers and the onboard Transit Ambassadors themselves. I realize that this is not a situation that the Transit Ambassadors created, yet they are unfairly getting yelled and chewed out at as a result of a decision they had no control in making. I feel bad for them, and wish other passengers give them empathy and sympathy in realizing what they can and cannot have control over. Thank you for reading and listening to this concern.
Reply: Hello and thank you for riding. Single-car operations on Sundays and holidays are scheduled to allow for preventative maintenance and weekly inspections. These days typically have lower ridership, making them ideal for completing this work without impacting weekday service when demand is higher.
The Operations team continuously monitors ridership levels, especially during special events and free ride days, and will add additional cars if necessary to accommodate increased demand. As more light rail vehicles are delivered, we will strive to have 2-car consists.

I am a Marisol Village resident and am curious, with no online chat back in January, how progress is going on the Dos Rios Station? Do you anticipate another “planned” blue line bus bridge soon? When can folks anticipate the highly coveted station grand opening to take place?
Reply: We are excited about the progress being made at the Dos Rios Station adjacent to Mirasol Village. A Blue Line bus bridge is tentatively schedule for mid-March 2026 as we finish up work on the new station. We anticipate construction to be completed late summer. The grand opening date will be announced at the end of spring when we have a better idea on the final timeline.

Good Friday to you Henry. How are things progressing in the Railyards with regards to the new Republic FC Stadium, the new entertainment facility and the adjoining Railyards Boulevard light rail station? Do you see that all three will be ready for a public opening by or before the end of 2027?
Reply: Thank you for the question. The contractor is making good progress on the new 7th & Railyards Station construction and anticipate that they will complete the new station sometime this summer. Once we have a final timeline, we will be sure to share it.

I live along the blue line and was wondering when blue line station modernization program was going to be continuing? It was brought to my attention that Broadway to Meadowview Stations still all need to be worked on as well as Arden/Del Paso, Marconi/Arcade, and Watt/I-80 in North Sacramento. Is this continuing in Spring and Summer 2026 to take advantage of the time of year of mainly sunny days, or has this project been put off even further than that?
Reply: Thank you for the question. We are excited to continue to progress our Light Rail Modernization effort. This Monday, February 9th at our Board Meeting we are set to award a contract to proceed with construction of the platform conversions and associated signal system work on the remaining Blue Line stations. Once we have a timeline from the contractor, we will share the construction timeline and service disruption schedule.

What can I do on light-rail to feel safer on the trains? I'm not very tech savvy and don't know how to use apps.
Reply: Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concern. SacRT is committed to making our system as safe and comfortable as possible for all riders. We’ve recently increased our security staffing, and our goal is to have a SacRT security team member on every train car to help riders feel safer.
While we encourage riders to report issues through the Alert SacRT app, we understand not everyone uses mobile apps.
You can also:
Call our Customer Service team: 916-321-2877
Contact our Security Operations Center: 916-556-0275
Riders without a smart phone can also text non-emergency safety and security issues to 916-318-3330.
If you ever feel unsafe or see something concerning, please don’t hesitate to reach out using these options. Your feedback helps us keep the system secure for everyone.

Sacramento, CA:
Dear SacRT Customer Service Team,
I have a question for Blue line Watt I-80.
I am writing to report an ongoing fare validation issue at Roseville Station and to request a possible solution.
Currently, there is no Connect Card reader machine at Roseville Station, so passengers are unable to tap their cards before boarding. As a result, fare verification is conducted onboard by light rail staff using handheld devices to review Connect Card transaction history.
I am a hybrid State worker and typically take light rail two days per week. However, during audit periods, I may work from home for extended stretches (sometimes up to two months), which creates a noticeable gap in my Connect Card fare history. When fare inspections occur, staff often question this gap, even though it is due to my work schedule and not fare evasion. These interactions can feel uncomfortable, despite my compliance with fare requirements.
Until a card reader is installed at Roseville Station, I respectfully request that SacRT consider an alternative method to ensure fares are properly deducted for each trip. Possible options could include:
Allowing onboard staff to tap Connect Cards directly using their devices, or Enabling fare deduction through the SacRT app or another onboard validation method.
Implementing a solution like this would help passengers accurately pay fares and avoid confusion or unnecessary questioning during inspections.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I appreciate your efforts to improve the rider experience and look forward to any guidance or updates on this matter.
Sincerely,
Reply: Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. We understand how important it is for riders to have a smooth and consistent fare validation process.
Currently, SacRT is transitioning away from the Connect Card system because replacement card readers are no longer available, and existing readers are frequently vandalized. While we continue to repair them when possible, installing new readers at stations like Roseville is not feasible under the current system.
The good news is that SacRT will be rolling out a new fare payment system this fall, designed to be much more durable and resistant to vandalism. This new system will provide improved reliability and convenience for riders and will not impact your ability to pay fares or validate trips. State workers will also transition from Connect Card to Transit Connect this fall, and we’ll share detailed information on that process soon.
To help ensure smooth fare validation, we encourage riders to tap their card at or near their destination whenever possible. This simple step helps confirm active use and prevents confusion for our Transit Ambassadors. If a card hasn’t been tapped for an extended period—say, a couple of months—it becomes difficult for staff to verify whether the pass is valid. For fairness and accuracy, riders should aim to tap at least once during the month.
In the meantime, our team will share your scenario with our Transit Ambassador team for them to better understand gaps in transit use on Connect Card accounts.
Thank you for your patience as we work toward a better, more secure fare system. Please feel free to reach out if you have additional questions or need further assistance.

Are there any BUS alternatives to Light Rail between Folsom and Downtown besides El Dorado Transit Sac Commuter? Any chance of them adding a stop in Folsom to make it a more convenient option during these extended Bus Bridges.
Reply: Hello and thank you for your question and hopefully we will not have any extended bus bridges on the Gold Line in the foreseeable future. While options from Folsom to Downtown are limited, other than light rail, persons residing along Hazel Ave in Fair Oaks and Orangevale may be able to take Route 109, which has two morning and two afternoon trips, directly to/from Downtown Sacramento.

For the Gold Line bus bridges, the sandwich signs at the stations are too few and too small. In the future, would it be affordable to hang bigger signs outside the old handicapped ramp walls instead, or to add "see sandwich signs" to the electronic board for such changes? Just a thought.
Reply: Unfortunately, large-scale signage is extremely expensive and not within our current budget, so we focus on communicating service changes through our app, electronic message boards, audio announcements, rider email lists, message boards at stations, website, social media, and media outreach,

Hi, I wanted to echo previous statements about making more use of the F-Street bus stops to provide a peak 134 service. It is counter intuitive to drop down from D/E/F to L to get downtown by bus. I have just completed SacRT 2050 survey too.
Reply: Thank you for taking the SacRT 2050 survey and for sharing your feedback. I shared your comment with our Planning team for their review and consideration. Your input is valuable as we work toward improving service and shaping the future of transit in our region.

Any plans to add some seating to train stops? The 29th St. station particularly needs something. The platform remodel wiped out what little seating there was. Just a bench would be an improvement.
Reply: Once the full platform modifications are completed at 29th Street Station, we’ll evaluate the number of benches to install at each station platform.
