CONTACT: Alane Masui Thursday, October 16, 2014
PHONE: 916-556-0121 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) will temporarily suspend light rail service on the northeast portion of the Blue Line in order to install fiber-optic cable for communication upgrades. From 8 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 through Sunday, October 19, 2014, light rail trains will not operate between the Watt/I-80 and St. Rose of Lima Park light rail stations. Regular light rail service will resume at the start of service on Monday, October 20, 2014.

Special RT shuttle buses will transport passengers between stations during the service disruption with the following exceptions: RT shuttles will not stop at the Cathedral Square (10th & K and 11th & K) or Watt/I-80 West light rail stations during the service disruption on Friday, Saturday or Sunday; RT shuttles will not stop at the Roseville Road Station on Saturday or Sunday; and Watt/I-80 light rail passengers should board special RT shuttle buses on Watt Avenue (upper level) on the northbound side of the bus stop to travel between stations.

The temporary closure will also be timed to coincide with Contagious Color, a local public art project, which will be painted in the car and light rail tunnel (underpass) on 12th Street near D Street.
