Construction activities related to the Sacramento Regional Transit District’s (RT) Blue Line to Cosumnes River College (CRC) light rail extension project will require three separate road closures. Following the recent temporary closure of Meadowview Road, the second road closure will be the complete closure of Franklin Boulevard just north of Cosumnes River Boulevard (between Cosumnes River Boulevard and Camino Royale Drive) beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015, and continuing until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.
RT's contractor will be installing light rail tracks across Franklin Boulevard as part of the Blue Line to CRC project. Work will include rebuilding the curb, gutter and sidewalk in this area, completely removing the roadway, and re-paving this section of Franklin Boulevard.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes. The main detour will be Franklin Boulevard to Cosumnes River Boulevard to Center Parkway to Valley Hi Drive to Franklin Boulevard, and vice versa. Access to Franklin Boulevard via Torrente Way will be closed. Residents will need to use La Solana Way or Valley Hi Drive instead. Access to Franklin Boulevard via Camino Royale Drive will not be affected.
RT will provide updates on Facebook (facebook/SacramentoRT) and Twitter (@RideSacRT).
The Blue Line to CRC project will extend light rail 4.3 miles from the existing terminus at Meadowview Road to Cosumnes River College. Scheduled to open in September 2015, the light rail extension will feature four new light rail stations (Morrison Creek, Franklin, Center Parkway and Cosumnes River College).
As with any construction, dates are subject to change based on weather and other conditions. To sign up for construction alerts, visit blueline2crc.com or call the project information line at 916-556-0113.
