Job Summary
This classification is primarily responsible for performing tasks in the following areas: Schedule Building and Runcutting; Schedule Maintenance and Oversight; Transportation Data Collection, Review, and Analysis; Document and Correspondence Preparation; Project Oversight and Management; and Communication and Information Dissemination. Work mainly involves the gathering and interpreting of data dealing with problems and difficult situations. May put forth alternative solutions for consideration. This class typically supervises subordinate staff.
Supervision
Supervision Received: This class typically receives general direction while working toward a definite objective that requires use of a wide range of procedures. Only unusual matters are referred to supervisor, typically with some suggestion of a solution.
Supervision Exercised: This class may supervise lower-level personnel.

Essential Functions
A. Schedule Building and Runcutting
Duties may include:
Attend internal and external meetings to gather information for service changes. Perform fieldwork on existing or new routes in preparation for creation or change to service. Design and create service schedule in conformance with District operator and vehicle quotas. Create vehicle blocks to optimize the efficiency of the vehicle assignments. Develop runcuts in compliance with federal and state law, as well as contractual obligations. Other duties as assigned.
B. Schedule Maintenance and Oversight
Duties may include:
Modify operations software parameters for cafeteria bidding. Input and analyze the legality of operator schedule bidding. Update weekly operator bids. Create special services for SAR, schools, special events, and state holidays. Produce, distribute, and maintain inventory of pocket timetables, includes creating requisitions in SAP. Bus stop, path, and ADA announcement maintenance. Create and distribute signup documentation. Create bus assignments to best match. Other duties as assigned.
C. Transportation Data Collection, Review, and Analysis
Duties may include:
Perform ridership demographic studies. Monitor supplemental school service ridership and adjust service levels as necessary. Capture and maintain historical ridership data and perform analyses Other duties as assigned.
D. Document and Correspondence Preparation
Duties may include:
Create written reports describing service, changes to service, and the implications of changes. Create and maintain spreadsheets to display changes in ridership trends, costs of service, and other statistical data. Create and maintain databases to track inventory and information over time. Answer questions and complaints from City officials or members of the public. Other duties as assigned.
E. Project Oversight and Management
Duties may include:
Responsible for the collection and accuracy of bus stop location and ADA announcement information, ridership information, and Clever Devices ADA stop announcement system. Responsible for installation and correct training and use of the new scheduling and operations system. Other duties as assigned.
F. Communication and Information Dissemination
Duties may include:
Provide Transportation with bid information and answer schedule-related questions. Inform of service changes due to detours or special services or events. Provide Call Center and public information with all service change information and explain changes so they can accurately give information to District customers. Coordinate with facilities to implement bus stop installation or modifications when service changes require stops to be created or moved. Provide cost analysis of service scenarios and estimates of manpower requirements for management and senior staff. Use verbal and written communication to assist the public, consultants and schedulers from other transit properties with inquiries. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications — Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Required Prior Experience:
Four years of comparable work experience in a transportation service agency performing professional, analytical scheduling work.
Required Prior Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field. Six years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education.
